A Syrian mortar shell landed in the Golan Heights held by Israel on Monday, just hours after a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in southern Israel, the Israeli army confirmed to Xinhua.
The mortar fell in the central part of the Golan Heights near the Syrian-Israeli interim border, a military spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said, adding: "Initial indications suggest that it was errant fire from the ongoing fighting in Syria."
No injuries or damage were reported.
Earlier in the day, police located some remains of a projectile, including a Qassam-type rocket, near a bus stop, the Haaretz daily reported.
The incident came hours after Palestinian militants in Gaza fired a rocket into southern Israel late on Sunday. The rocket exploded in an open area, causing no injuries, the army said.
Air raid sirens were sounded shortly after midnight Sunday, alerting residents of Israeli communities in the vicinity of the Gaza border to take shelter.
