Lebanon and the World Bank signed on Wednesday two loan programs which aim to help the country build a water dam, and improve its financial system.

According to one program, a water dam will be built in the Bisri region with two power stations with a cost of 437 million U.S. dollars.

The other deal, which will cost 5.2 million dollars, will assist Beirut in improving its financial system.

Lebanon's Prime Minister Tammam Salam hailed the cooperation between his country and the World Bank is a clear proof of "the international trust in Lebanon."

Salam also said the World Bank plays a "leading and important role" to support Lebanon.

"Water is a crucial and basic need for all people," he said adding that "Lebanon enjoys a water wealth that we must provide to all the Lebanese in the best possible means."
