Four or five firms interested in purchasing Saab
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-01-31 06:04

Swedish automobile company Saab is currently under negotiations with four or five companies interested in its bankruptcy assets, including the main manufacture plant, media reported on Monday.

"I cannot release which companies we are discussing with. But we are having a dialogue with four or five companies that we consider have a serious interest," said Hans Bergqvist, one of the three bankruptcy administrators, adding that the whole work is moving on "well."

"We hope it will be solved within the coming weeks. We have to take our financial situation into consideration," he was quoted by the Swedish news agency TT as saying.

According to Bergqvist, the main Saab plant in Trollhattan, western Sweden, is still running "at a certain degree" so that it is possible for others to restart its production.

Besides the plant, Saab is also eager to sell its surplus spare parts including engines and gearboxes. "We will sell out the most valuable part and then see if there is any interest in the other parts," said Bergqvist.

The companies that have already showed interest in purchasing Saab include Chinese car manufacturer Youngman, Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra and Turkish investment company Brightwell Holding, TT reported.

Since early 2011, Saab has been trapped in difficult situation and production in Trollhattan has stopped. Sweden's Vanersborgs District Court approved Saab's bankruptcy petition last month.
