France reports more jobseekers in April
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-31 02:35

Jobseekers in France slightly increased by 0.1 percent in April from a month earlier, as tepid economic growth slowed job creation in the eurozone's second largest economy, official figures showed on Wednesday.

According to data from the Labor Ministry, France numbered 4,300 more jobless people in the mainland in April, driving the country's total number of jobseekers up to more than 2.88 million.

Year on year, the unemployment jumped by 7.5 percent.

The socialist president Francois Hollande wants to create 150,000 jobs for the future and 500,000 generation contracts during his mandate to absorb the increasing unemployed people.

In mid-July, the government will hold a social conference where representatives of trade unions and employers will discuss new measures to inject new blood into the lifeless local job market.
