The number of business aircraft delivered to the Asia-Pacific region grew from 947 in 2002 to 1,566 in 2012, a 65-percent increase, according to new industry analysis.

Singapore saw the largest increase of 131 percent. Its business jet fleet grew from 16 to 37 in the 2002-2012 period, showed data released by aircraft manufacturer the Beechcraft Corporation on Tuesday at the ongoing Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai.

The number of business aircraft in China's Hong Kong grew by 104 percent, from 51 to 104 jets.

The number of such aircraft delivered to China's mainland also gained 103 percent, from 92 to 187.

"The Asia-Pacific region continues to be a large growth market for business aviation, fuelled by some of the most exciting economies in the world," said Ted Farid, Beechcraft's vice president of sales for the Asia-Pacific region.

Business leaders and entrepreneurs understand the importance of seeing their clients and operations on a regular basis, and having their own business aircraft helps make that possible, added Farid.

Based in Wichita, Kansas in the United States, the Beechcraft Corporation, a world's leading business aviation manufacturer, has delivered 54,000 aircraft since 1931. Today, more than 36,000 of them continue to fly.

Running from April 16 to 18 in Shanghai, the annual ABACE is the region's largest show on business aviation products and services.
