Business prospect in Indonesia bright

The prospect of doing business in Indonesia was bright in the second quarter and the optimism is expected to continue to the third quarter, national statistic bureau announced here on Friday.

Suryamin, head of the bureau told a press conference that the business tendency index, an index to measure optimism level on business, the index for the second quarter rose to 103.88 from 102. 34 at the previous quarter.

The index level of 100 means the prospect of business is stagnant, more than that means positive and lower than 100 means negative.

For the next three months through September, the business tendency index increased to 105.95, said Suryamin.

"In general, the condition of business in the third quarter is going to be better than that of the second quarter," he said at the bureau headquarters.

"Trade, hotels, and restaurant business sectors are forecast to have the highest business prospect," said Suryamin.

The Southeast Asia's largest economy has regained credit rating upgrade to investment grade by Moody's and Fitch's recently, luring global fund managers to park their funds in Indonesia.

Besides, a huge population of 238 million with growing middle class and emerging wealth, and the government efforts to boost investment climate, have also factored.
