YouTube to acquire Twitch
Twitch, the popular video live streaming website, is to be acquired by YouTube, according to media reports Monday.
The deal, for 1 billion dollars in cash, is said to be YouTube's largest acquisition since its acquisition by Google in 2006, and is "expected to be announced imminently", as is quoted from Variety.com.
However, according to Wall Street Journal, discussions are still early and "a deal isn't imminent."
Twitch, one of the largest video sites, dwarfs YouTube when it comes to live-streaming and video games.
The acquisition of Twitch would put all the content under YouTube's roof, though YouTube may face regulators to challenge the deal.
