Two employees of Mitsubishi Electric Corp. were recognized Thursday as having killed themselves due to physical and mental issues related to work, while another two were recognized as having suffered work-related mental illnesses, the company said.

The four employees have been recognized by labor authorities here as having suffered from work-linked illnesses between 2014 and 2017.

One of the employees, a 28-year-old from Nagoya prefecture, committed suicide in 2012. Another employee of the Tokyo-based company also committed suicide in 2016 at a subsidiary in Hyogo prefecture.

Two more employees of Mitsubishi Electric were also recognized by labor authorities as having work-related mental illnesses, company officials said.

"We take a serious view of this matter. We have been working to protect the health of our employees by managing their working hours," the company was quoted as saying in a statement on the matter.
