Namibia's annual inflation rate slowed to 4.8 percent in September 2018, compared to the 5.6 percent registered in September last year, according to latest figures.

The country's statistics agency on Thursday said the slowdown in the inflation rate resulted from declines in sectors including communications, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, among others.

Despite the slowdown in the annual inflation, Statistician General Alex Shimuafeni said that on a monthly basis, the inflation rate stood at 0.8 percent compared to 0.03 percent recorded in August.
