French shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.38 percent, or 17.95 points, to close at 4,719.17 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 23 lost in the day.

French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi lost 1.99 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French food group Danone lost 1.84 percent and European aviation group Airbus edged down 1.83 percent.

Semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics advanced 4.08 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Oil and gas firm Technipfmc rose 3.62 percent and French multinational automotive supplier VALEO gained 2.96 percent. Enditem
