British stocks up 0.74 pct Tuesday
British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.74 percent, or 50.72 points, to close at 6,861.60 points.
Smurfit Kappa Group, a leading corrugated packaging company, soared 6.15 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. DS Smith and Marks & Spencer Group increased by 5.88 percent and 5.56 percent, respectively.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals, a multinational pharmaceutical company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.21 percent.
