Lance Armstrong asked the U.S. government's fraud case to be dismissed in a hearing on Monday.

The disgraced cyclist claimed that prosecutors missed statute of limitations deadlines in the case in which the U.S. Department of Justice says Armstrong made false claims while accepting 40 million U.S. dollars in sponsorship money from the US Postal Service from 1998-2004.

US District Judge Robert Wilkins was expected to make a ruling within 30 days on the matter but was not expected to toss out the case.

Armstrong was stripped of all results dating back to August 1998, including seven Tour de France victories and received a life ban for doping.
