Artjoms Rudenevs hammer secured Hamburg a neat win at struggling Stuttgart while Hannover and Frankfurt shared points after a goalless draw to close the 25th round of the German Bundesliga on Sunday.

Stuttgart find themselves in a free fall as they dropped 11th to 14th position to suffer the 12th loss at the 25th match following their loss to Hamburg on home soil. The "Rothosen" moved from 7th to 6th position to raise hopes on a Europa League spot.

Both sides staged an unspectacular first half, after all Hamburg ensured the first chance of the match when Rudnevs headed just wide from close range at the 13th minute. Three minutes later Raphael Holzhausers deflected free kick forced Hamburg's keeper Rene Adler to tip the ball to the bar to deny the opener for the hosts.

With beginning of the second half Stuttgart again approached Hamburg's goal dangerously when Adler had to make a save on Serdar Tasci's header.

However, goals were scored at the other end of the pitch, as Dennis Diekmeier cross from the right wing into the centre of the box found Rudnevs, who beat Sven Ulreich with a hammering volley from 13 meters to grab the lead.

Stuttgart nearly responded to the deficit but Vedad Ibisevic was unable to beat Adler by header from very close range at the 69th minute.

The visitors were able to kill the clock, as Stuttgart remained unimaginative and short on accuracy in front of Hamburg's danger zone.

Elsewhere, Hannover share points with Frankfurt following a goalless draw over ninety minutes. Frankfurt struggle to score since 504 minute therefore they slipped out from a Champions League spot on 5th position, meanwhile Hannover stay on 10th position, four points adrift of the international business.
