Germany suffered another injury blow as Lars Bender will be unable to start at the World Cup in Brazil due to a tight injury, the German Football Association (DFB) confirmed on Friday.
Bayer Leverkusen`s defensive midfielder suffered an injury in his right tight during the training camp in South Tyrol and will thus miss the World Cup in Brazil. The 25-year-old international will soon leave the training camp.
"It is very disappointing for all of us to lose a player due to an injury. I am personally very sorry for Lars. He absolutely wanted to make it to Brazil," Germany coach Joachim Loew said.
Joachim Loew suffers under a injury crises as key players such as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira, Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm are limited to light training.
The "Nationalmannschaft" will continue their training camp in South Tyrol until May 31.
