The city of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has taken 20 key investment projects to the 17th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) that started, on Sunday, in the city of Xiamen , Fujian province.
The projects, valued at $6.58 billion, covering tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, the service industry and infrastructure, according to the head of the delegation, Urumqi's vice-mayor, Gao Feng, who added that this year they mainly deal with the city's key industries and investment and natural resource advantages to attract more investment for its overall economic development.
This is the 17th time for Urumqi to participate in this State Council-sponsored event, which takes place every September, in Xiamen.
At last year's fair, the Urumqi delegation signed 16 deals worth 4.22 billion yuan, with 2.46 billion yuan of that now in place, while seven of the deals have been completed.
