German and French leaders as well as heads of the European Commission, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed here Monday to continue to work hard to solve the Greek debt crisis.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, ECB President Mario Draghi and IMF chief Christine Lagarde met late Monday evening over the Greek debt issues.
A German government spokesperson said after the meeting that the leaders agreed to continue to work "intensively" together in the coming days among themselves as well as with Athens.
No more details were revealed.
Greece is in tough negotiations with its international creditors for a cash-for-reform deal. It faces mounting pressure as it is due to make a repayment of 300 million euros (329 million U.S. dollars) to the IMF on Friday. The current bailout program expires at the end of June.
