Greece's only plan is to reach a debt deal with its international creditors to avert default and stay in the euro zone, Greek officials said on Monday after the new impasse in negotiations in Brussels the weekend.

The collapse of talks between representatives of the two sides over the next package of fiscal adjustment measures and reforms in exchange of cash has fueled concern, since Greece runs out of time and options.

On June 30 expires the extension of the bailout agreed last February to allow time to the two sides for an agreement on their post-bailout cooperation and Greece needs to repay 1.5 billion euros (about 1.68 billion U.S. dollars) of loan installments to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Without a debt deal Athens cannot make it and the countdown to a credit event starts.

"The country's course in the euro zone and EU will continue," Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos assured on Monday during a meeting with Greek businessmen.
