With 14 films, including nine full-length fictional features and five medium-long fictional and documentary films, the selection for the 2014 Perspektive Deutsches Kino program of the Berlinale is completed on Wednesday.

The program will be opened by feature movie Huter meines Bruders (my brother's keeper), which occurred under a project Sixpack by director Maximilian Leo to promote talented new filmmakers.

"We are always delighted when first steps in the film world, which were taken in conjunction with projects and initiatives of the Berlinale, bear fruit. Though even better is when they result in exciting films that have their premieres in our program," section head Linda Soffker said about working with up-and-coming film talents.

Meanwhile, many young filmmakers found their stories abroad in this year's Perspektive Deutsches Kino program.

Two documentary films in the program Bosteri unterm Rad (Bosteri Beneath the Wheel) by Levin Hubner and Flowers of Freedom by Mirjam Lenze were shot in Kyrgyzstan.

Two fictional film-academy works also went out into the world, as Valerie Heine shot her film El carro azul (The Blue Car) in Cuba, while Ester Amrami shot her film Anderswo (Anywhere Else) from Berlin to Israel.

From the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg comes the 60-minute documentary Nebel (Fog) by director Nicole Vogele.

Another film Szenario (Scenario), which can neither be called a conventional fictional film nor a conventional documentary, has been made by Philip Widmann and his co-director Karsten Krause.

In the end, Tape_13, a horror film by director Axel Stein, will complete the Perspektive program. This film is the directorial debut of Axel Stein, who is best known for his work as an actor.
