A survey of China's games industry shows that the market will rake in estimated income of 75.8 billion yuan (US$12.4 billion) in 2013, and its scale is likely to surpass 100 billion yuan (US$16.4 billion) in 2015.

The mobile games market enjoyed the fastest growth and its market scale will exceed 10 billion yuan (US$1.64 billion), up by 150% year-on-year.

The report, released by a games industry committee at the Publisher Association of China, indicated that China's games industry will post explosive growth in the next few years.

Guo Jianbing, an official at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said the momentum in the mobile games industry mainly comes from the increasing sales of mobile phones. Global sales of smartphones reached 258 million units in 2013.

In addition, the new information industry and cultural development will stimulate the games industry, so the collaboration between games producers and phone suppliers is expected to be strengthened.

Xiao Hong, president of Perfect World, one of the largest online games suppliers in China, noted that the focus of next-generation online entertainment technology will be seen in the vertical and horizontal integration of the industry, the dimensional presentation of games, the revolution in technology and the creativity of worldwide talent.

In the meantime, cooperation between the mobile games industry and best-selling books will become a stronger trend as more mobile games will be adapted from popular publications.
