Nikkei fell to a three-month closing low below 9,200 on Monday, following fresh European concern raised by French and Greek elections.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 261.11 points, or 2.78 percent, from Wednesday at 9,119.14, its lowest closing mark since February 14, when it fell to 9,052.07. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 20.81 points, or 2.62 percent, lower at 772.06.
Almost all 33 sectors on the TSE, except the air transport sector, declined, including the securities, mining and insurance sectors.
The turnover was about 1,173.2 billion yen (about 14.71 billion U.S. dollars
Japanese financial markets were closed Thursday and Friday for national holidays. |
