Shanghai-based e-commerce site Yihaodian has reached a partnership with convenience store chain operator FamilyMart.

Yihaodian will allow customers to pick up packages at 300 participating FamilyMart outlets in Shanghai in an effort to raise delivery efficiency.

Customers will need their ID cards and a verification code on their mobile phone to pick up orders from FamilyMart stores.

FamilyMart has about 800 stores in the city and more than 1,100 nationwide.

Online retailers are eager to upgrade delivery services as e-commerce continues to grow rapidly in China. They're also working to team with offline stores to allow better convergence of their respective customer bases.

Amazon China launched a similar service last year, allowing parcel pickups at FamilyMart stores in Beijing, Shanghai and Sichuan.

Alibaba's Tmall and Taobao also allow users to get packages delivered to nearby "pickup stations," which are usually grocery or convenient stores.
