Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, acting Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Boyko said Thursday.

Yanukovych is also expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral relations, Boyko told reporters.

Forty-three Ukrainian athletes are expected to attend the Sochi Olympics.
