The trilateral talks between Ukraine, the European Commission and Russia failed to reach a deal on Tuesday after 8 hours of negotiations. That’s according to EU commission spokesman Sabine Berger.

He also said the talks will continue later on Tuesday or early on Wednesday. Russia has threatened to cut off gas supplies to Ukraine as early as Tuesday, with possible knock-on effects for EU supplies, because Ukraine has failed to pay its gas bill.

Earlier, Kiev reportedly is ready to accept the price offered by the European Commission - ranging from 350 to 390 dollars per thousand cubic meters. Ukraine now is paying about 100 US dollars more per thousand cubic meters.
