On October 9, a medical experts group from the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) together with experts of Yunnan province, treated people injured in the Yunnan earthquake at the First People's Hospital of Pu'er City and the People's Hospital of Jinggu County. Critically wounded persons in the People's Hospital of Jinggu County have been transferred to the First People's Hospital of Pu'er City. The health center of Yongping town and 28 village clinics have restored working order.

An epidemic prevention experts group of the NHFPC teamed up with epidemic prevention personnel from Yunnan province, along with various cities and counties, to formulate the working plan for post-disaster diseases prevention, including measures of monitoring, reporting and handling contagious diseases and public health emergency. They monitored environmental health, food sanitation and water quality in the disaster area, and used 133 kilograms of disinfectant in total.

At present, health and family planning departments at the national, provincial, municipal and county levels have dispatched 18 medical groups to the disaster area, including 234 experts in medical treatment, 69 in disease prevention and 15 in health supervision. By 6pm on October 9, the medical institutions of the disaster area have treated 325 injured people; 14 people are in hospital now, and a total of 46 people have left the hospital.
