Environment authorities should enhance information disclosure on environmental emergencies and improve transparency in handling such emergencies, a senior official said Wednesday.

Minister of Environmental Protection Zhou Shengxian emphasized at a work conference that the ministry will improve information disclosure supervision on environmental monitoring and protection.

Reviewing the progress made in environmental protection in recent years, Zhou said the ministry will strive to realize zero growth in nitric oxide emissions in the second half of this year.

"China will further establish the construction of an information disclosure system and staff mechanism in order to achieve greater success," Zhou added.
