Egyptian citizens living abroad started Monday registering their data on the Higher Presidential Election Commission (HPEC) website to vote in the presidential elections set to start on May 23.
"Foreign Ministry could erase all obstacles which may preclude the voters abroad, specially the time of registering and voting", said Foreign Ministry spokesman Amr Rushdi.
"The citizens who registered in the parliament elections are not in need to register again for the presidential elections", said Rushdi.
In order to provide the voters abroad with more help, Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr decided to extend the working hours in the 127 embassies and 11 consulates locating in different countries.
According to the statement of HPEC, overseas Egyptians will vote in the first round on May 11-17 and the run-off on June 3-9, while the presidential election run-off, if necessary, will be held on June 16 and 17. |
