Egypt's parliament voted on Saturday for selecting half of Constituent Assembly members from the parliament, and another half from outside the parliament.
At a joint session of upper and lower houses, 472 lawmakers voted for the "50/50" proposal submitted by Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Muslim Brotherhood's political arm.
According to the Constitutional Declaration, which was announced by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) after it took power last year, members of lower and upper houses are responsible for choosing 100 members of the Constituent Assembly which will be tasked to draft Egypt's new constitution. |
