French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday had a phone talk with his Malian counterpart Dioncounda Traore to discuss the recent development of Malian political crisis, a French Presidency statement said.
"The political and security situation in Mali has been a thorough exchange. The Head of State reiterated the hope expressed by France and the international community that a national unity government could be formed," the Elysee said.
The two leaders also discussed possible ways to help Malian authorities to restore security along the country's borders and fight against the Islamist groups that seized the control of northern Mali.
Hollande hailed efforts by Malian officials in setting a " consensual government", which "would be a strong sign paving the way for the resumption of the civil and military cooperation with Mali." |
