Hundreds of Egyptian protesters flocked Friday to Cairo's Manassa square in Nasr city to join a demonstration against Muslim Brotherhood.

The demonstration was stirred up by the former parliament member, Mohammed Abu Hamed, who keeps marketing the idea that Muslim Brotherhood wants to dominate the whole state's sectors.

"The Muslim Brotherhood group activities should be supervised by the government or be banned, the state should know about its finance sources and its activities," a 35-year-old protester named Ahmed Emara said.

Meanwhile, most of the prominent political groups like April 6 movement, Salafists, National Association for Change and Revolution Youth Coalition announced its refrain from participating in the protest, claiming such protest is incited by the former regime remnants.

"In fact, the goal of today's demonstration isn't clear and it seems to be against Morsi, who should be given a chance to see what he will do. Morsi came with fair elections and we can say no for him also by elections," Noran Mohammed, 23, a member of National Association for Change told Xinhua.

"Those who call for the Aug. 24 protest are against the revolution last year and want to reinstate the military rule and the old regime," read a statement released by Revolution Youth Coalition.

Sporadic clashes erupted between the pros and cons while part of protesters in Manassa square were marching to Cairo's center Tahrir Square, leaving seven injured, according to a local newspaper's website.

In response to the move, Muslim Brotherhood group issued a statement on its website, affirming its respect for freedom of opinion.

"Such rights and freedom should be exercised within the boundaries of the country's constitution and law," the statement read.
