Death toll from labor accidents increase in Cuba

Cuba reported 92 deaths due to labor accidents in 2011, six more than the previous year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported on Friday.

The NBS said the fatal accidents occurred in 16 of the 18 Cuban economic sectors, most of them in agriculture, hunting, forestry and construction.

The NBS also said 4,759 workers were injured in 2011, 27 fewer than in 2010. The majority of the injured belonged to the sectors of agriculture, public health and welfare, and manufacturing industries (excluding the sugar industry).
