The US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton Sunday watched victims of human trafficking dance and then listened to their tale of woes, shortly after arriving here for a three-day visit to India.

Hillary wore a dark suit and watched the young girls dance to a tune of Rabindranath Tagore's song at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations' Rabindranath Tagore Centre.

Bappaditya Mukherjee, founder of Pranthakatha NGO, said: " Clinton said she is on a diplomatic mission to India and one of her agenda is to make the Indian and West Bengal government understand that trafficking of women and young girls is a problem and should be a priority for them."

Mukherjee said she also spoke personally to the dancers who were rescued by NGOs from brothels.

He explained to her how trafficking of women and drugs were related with terrorism.

Mukherjee also briefed her about trafficking of women and drugs from Bangladesh and how terrorists trained in Afghanistan and based in Bangladesh were recruiting poor Muslim youths from West Bengal.

He said Clinton very keenly heard from all the civil society members who were present.
