A Chin ethnic armed group -- Chin National Front (CNF) in Myanmar's northwestern Chin state -- has signed preliminary ceasefire agreement with the local state government, state radio and television reported Sunday.

The signing took place on Friday between the peace making group of the CNF and the state-level peace making group of Chin state, the report said without disclosing the details about the document.

Up to now, three ethnic armed groups have reached peace pacts respectively with the central government, namely the United Wa State Army (UWSA) in Shan State (North) Special Region-2, the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) in Mongla Special Region- 4 and Koloh Htoo Baw armed group in Kayin state in October and November 2011.

Three others are still negotiating with the state or central government which are Restoration Council of Shan state (RCSS) of Shan State Army (SSA)-South , Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Kayin National Union (KNU).

Myanmar's central government, in its peace efforts, issued an announcement on Aug. 18, 2011, calling on anti-government ethnic armed groups to come for peace talks through region or state level governments to end internal armed insurrection and build internal peace in the country.
