Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-01-26 13:15

Myanmar's parliament is due to start its third session of the two houses here on Thursday to continue discussing bills submitted to the two houses by parliament members.

The Union Parliament is made up of the House of Representatives (Lower House) and the House of Nationalities (Upper Houses).

At least a number of new bills are expected to be discussed which mainly deal with farmland management, ward or village-tract administration and environmental conservation. The bills were also proposed to amend the laws of the House of Nationalities, House of Representatives and region or state parliament and to amend some economic laws related to foreign currency handling, custom tax and import and export.

The last second session lasted from Aug. 22, 2010 to Nov. 25, 2011.

During the second session of the parliament attended by 588 parliament members, a total of 15 bills were passed by the parliament and endorsed by President U Thein Sein to become laws which included some politics- and economy-related laws.

Of the politics-related laws, the Law Amending the Party Registration Law had made Aung San Suu Kyi-led National League for Democracy (NLD) possible to get re-registered as a legal political party and enter the upcoming by-elections slated for April 1.

Following the sessions of the two houses, the session for the union parliament will also start on Jan. 31.
