India will put forward its case for membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) in Vienna on Thursday, reported local daily The Hindu Wednesday.
Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai will make the move at the first major interaction since May last year, after updating the NSG on the ground covered by it on harmonizing the NSG control list with India's export control systems, said the report.
The countries owning nuclear arms, India, Pakistan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Israel are not made NSG members because they have not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). |
