South Korea has registered the lowest unemployment rate among member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for the sixth straight month in January, a report showed Thursday.
According to the OECD's report on unemployment statistics, South Korea's jobless rate stood at 3.2 percent in January, marking the lowest among the 34 member countries.
January's figure was 5 percentage points lower than the OECD's average. South Korea's unemployment rate has continued to stay in the 3.1-3.3 percent range since August last year, it said.
Austria posted the second lowest unemployment rate after South Korea with 4 percent. Spain' s jobless rate rose 0.4 percentage point to reach 23.3 percent in January compared with a month before, while Ireland, Portugal, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland all showed double-digit unemployment rates. |
