Counting of Indian presidential election begins

The counting of the presidential election in India began Sunday in the Indian Parliament Upper House without suspension.

Former Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is expected to have a landslide win from the votes of India's national and state lawmakers, according to local media reports.

Mukherjee, a candidate of the ruling Congress and its allies, could win at least 63 percent of the votes while Purno Sangma, a candidate of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, is expected to win 28 percent.
