Thai court postpones Red-shirt leaders' bail ruling
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-08-09 18:08

Thailand's criminal court on Thursday completed its hearing on revoking bail for a group of Red- shirt leaders and scheduled to deliver ruling on Aug. 22.

The court heard testimonies for and against revoking bail for those core members of the pro-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, or Red-shirts, who have been released on bail after being jailed on terrorism-related charges in connection with the 2010 political strife.

The opposition Democrat Party and the Constitution Court filed petition with the criminal court seeking revocation of their bail as they have allegedly violated bail conditions. The defense sought and received the permission to submit additional evidence after the hearing.

In an earlier decision, the court deferred the bail hearing for five of the 24 Red-shirt defendants who serve as member of the parliament, citing their parliamentary immunity.
