Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-09-19 18:41

Pakistani cabinet on Wednesday set aside routine agenda to discuss options for lodging protest over the anti-Islam film made in the United States and declared the coming Friday as a national holiday to show respect to Muslim Prophet Mohammad.

The cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, condemned the movie and noted that the movie has hurt religious feelings of the Muslims across the world.

The prime minister while strongly condemning the anti-Islam film has called upon the people to register their feelings peacefully and restrain by damaging their own properties, Information Minister Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira said.

Addressing the Federal Cabinet meeting he said they have taken notice of the matter and the Youtube has been closed down in Pakistan.

The Cabinet suspended its agenda and debated the situation arising out of blasphemous film, the minister said.

Protests against the blasphemous movie continued in Pakistan on Wednesday and lawyers entered the highly secured diplomatic zone in the capital Islamabad to march on the American embassy.

Riot police later pushed the lawyers back. The protesters burnt effigies of the man who made the blasphemous film.

A heavy contingent of police has been already deployed at the Red Zone, attempting to hold off the protestors.

Local media reported that the cabinet also decided to summon the U.S. envoy to Foreign Ministry Office to convey to him Pakistan's strong condemnation at the movie.

The cabinet also decided that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf will address the nation over the issue.

Political and religious parties have announced a country-wide protest against the film on Friday.

Thousands of students staged a big rally in the eastern city of Lahore who wanted to march towards the U.S. consulate. The police had blocked roads to the consulate.
