Georgia's ruling United National Movement party has been polled to lead the ongoing race for the 2012 parliamentary elections, according to a survey published on Friday.

The poll, conducted between July 31 and Aug. 12 by the Caucasus Resource Research Centers for the U.S.-based National Democratic Institute, showed that the ruling party had 37 percent of the voter support, and the major opposition Georgian Dream coalition had 12 percent of voter support.

A total of 2,038 Georgians were interviewed face-on.

The opposition Christian-Democratic Movement party polled with 3 percent of voter support.

In all, 77 percent of the 2,038 interviewees said that they would vote if the parliamentary elections were to be held right away. It was 26 percentage points higher than the September 2011 poll and 12 percentage points higher than February 2012 poll.
