Saudi, Bahrini permanent representatives to AL head delegations to Baghdad summit

Saudi Arabia's and Bahrain's Permanent Representatives to the Arab League (AL) arrived in Iraq' s capital Baghdad on Monday to head their countries' delegations for the Arab summit slated for March 27-29, an official Iraqi television reported.

"The Saudi Arabia delegation to participate in the Arab summit arrived in Baghdad, and was headed by Saudi's Permanent Representative at the AL Ahmed Abdul Aziz Qattan," the state-run Iraqia channel said.

The channel said that the Bahrain's delegation to Baghdad summit headed by Bahrain's Permanent Representative at AL Ahmed al- Hajiri arrived in the Iraqi capital.

The report also said that President Iklel Dhanin of the Islamic Republic of Comoros is expected to arrive in Baghdad late Monday night.

At around midday of Monday, the official channel said that Iraq received the Algerian economic delegation to be the first Arab delegation to participate in the ministerial meeting of Arab Finance and Economy on Tuesday. The Algerian delegation was headed by Algeria's Minister of Trade Mustapha Benbada.

The Algerian delegation was followed by delegations of Jordan, Palestine, Oman and Lebanon, among others.

The Iraqi capital also received some 200 politicians, diplomats and officials in the largest delegation representing the Arab League to participate in the summit.

The Arab summit will be held on March 29, but will be preceded by a meeting of Arab economy ministers on March 27 and another meeting of Arab foreign ministers on March 28.

Earlier, Baghdad said it has completed its preparation for the summit and is ready to receive the Arab leaders.

Iraq sees the summit as a significant milestone in its history that would lead the country to play a powerful and positive role in the Arab world.
