Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Thursday that the developments across the Arab World put the region's countries on a crossroad that requires "courage" to avoid chaos.

Speaking at the opening session of the "Arab Economic Forum" in Beirut, Mikati called on the Lebanese to cooperate to safeguard the country's stability and overcome all the obstacles they are facing.

"The country has always been able to overcome the obstacles through the unity of its people," he said, stressing the consensus among all parties over state matters.

The prime minister also noted that the cabinet is working on increasing job opportunities and economic growth, pointing that " the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 5 percent in 2011, which is higher than other non-oil producing Arab countries."
