Lebanon refuses external intervention in its affairs: FM
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-19 04:37

Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour expressed Friday his refusal to any external army's intervention in Lebanon's affairs, as well as Lebanon's interference in Syrian affairs.

Mansour said in a radio interview that Syria felt bitterness about Lebanon's turning to be a hub of smuggling arms to Syria, but he assured that "Lebanon is exerting utmost efforts to control the Lebanese-Syrian borders."

As for the recent clashes in Lebanon's northern port city of Tripoli, Mansour said his country rejects any intervention of foreign armies in Lebanon.

Earlier in the day, media reports said the Syrian permanent representative at the United Nations, Bashar Jaafari, addressed a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, saying that some Lebanese areas near the Lebanese-Syrian borders "have become an incubator for terrorist elements from the al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood organizations, who are tampering with the security of Syria and its citizens."

In his letter, Jaafari charged that "the offices of some charitable societies supervised by Salafist groups and the Mustaqbal Movement in Lebanese border areas have been turned into places for receiving and harboring terrorist elements from the al- Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood organizations."

However, the Mustaqbal Movement denied the charges, describing the letter as "fabricate accusations" in a statement.
