Iran has invited Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi to participate in the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Press TV reported on Thursday.
In their telephone conversation on Wednesday, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad extended his congratulations to his Egyptian counterpart over his recent victory in Egypt's presidential election and invited him to attend the NAM summit slated for Aug. 26-31 in Tehran, said the report.
Iranian foreign minister said Wednesday that the Islamic republic is ready to welcome Egypt's new president to the upcoming NAM summit.
Ali-Akbar Salehi said "Egypt currently chairs NAM and is to hand over its rotating presidency to Iran during the summit meeting, so we will host ( Egyptian President) Morsi for the event. " |
