Iran denies cyber attack on nuclear facilities: atomic chief
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-08-01 20:23

Fereidoon Abbasi, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), denied on Wednesday that its nuclear program has suffered a recent malware attack called the AC/ DC virus, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.

The reports over a cyber attack against Iran's nuclear facilities is false, said Abbasi.

The Washington Post reported last week that two of Iran's uranium-enrichment plants were struck by a cyber attack earlier this week that shut down computers.

The virus closed down the automation network at Iran's Natanz and Fordow facilities, said the report.

Over the past few years, Iran has been the target of numerous cyber attacks aimed to disrupt the country's nuclear systems. Iran has accused the United States and Israel of being behind the cyber attacks.
