Two additional rockets were fired from Gaza towards southern Israel Monday afternoon, after a Qassam was fired Monday morning.

No one was injured and no damages were reported, as the rockets hit open fields in Sderot and in a nearby regional council, the Ynet news website reported.

The morning rocket caught school children in the area as they were about to embark on their first day of school. They were evacuated to nearby protected spaces.

Israeli President Shimon Peres visited a fortified high school in the Sha'ar Hanegev regional council earlier and said that the rockets fired in the past two days are "a giant foolishness."

Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council Head Alon Schuster told The Jerusalem Post Monday that his main goal is to restore the citizens' sense of confidence amid the new school year.

"Most of the education and public buildings in the council are fortified, and we will do anything we can to protect our children and our citizens," Schuster said.

On Sunday, three rockets exploded near Sderot, one hitting a factory, causing some damage.

The last two days' attacks came after a relatively calm period in recent weeks, with the exception of one long-range Grad missile which hit the southern resort town of Eilat two weeks ago.

Sderot and the nearby regional councils have been hit by hundreds of rockets in the past decade as they are very close to the Hamas-control Gaza strip.
