World famous online auction site eBay decided to open its offshore warehouse near Riga to facilitate eBay operations in Russia, local media reported Wednesday.
Entrepreneurs from all over the world can use the new warehouse to store their goods for the Russian market, and it is in this way they can shorten substantially the delivery time of orders up to 5 or 6 days to Moscow, said Evgeny Tikhomirov, eBay Russian Director of Operations.
As for now, eBay is at its final stage of the legal formalities and by the end of March its operation will start, according to local media.
Although it is mainly targeted at the Russian eBay users, certain interest is also observed from Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
However, the new warehouse is not of eBay possession, but of a logistics company, and it is organized for storing of goods of high demand, such as electronics.
