Facilities of the upcoming Sochi Winter Olympics must be used for the benefits of all Russian citizens following the games, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Monday.

"Our task is not only to prepare Olympics infrastructure to the highest degree of readiness, but to take care of what will follow," he told a government meeting.

He suggested to develop the International Olympic University in Sochi to a leading sports scientific and educational center.

The prime minister also ordered to establish All-Russia children sports and fitness center, using Olympics' two ice arenas.

The 22nd Winter Olympics are slated for Feb. 7-23, 2014 with 98 events to be contested.

Medvedev also congratulated fellow citizens with Saturday's decision of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), which has decided that the Winter Universiade 2019 will take place in Krasnoyarsk in Southern Siberia.

"This is another big sport event our country will host. I'd like to congratulate everyone who wanted that. This is actually a big sports festival," he told the meeting.

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov will be in charge of the preparation of the Games.
