Tickets sale for the 22nd Winter Olympics opened in Moscow on Monday, the official ticketing website said.

The same day tickets sale started in the rail terminal's box office in Sochi, the Black Sea venue of the 2014 Games.

According to the organizers, the tickets could be bought until March 16, the final day of Paralympic Games, on prices similar to the online prices.

Ticket prices vary from 500 rubles (about 16 U.S. dollars) for the ice hockey group games and up to 50,000 rubles (over 1,600 dollars) for the opening ceremony.

Online sales of the tickets with no exact sitting place attached started on Feb. 7, 2013. Between June, 1 and Oct. 10 the sales were postponed because the organizers were allocating these tickets the places in the sporting arenas.

Organizers said over 150,000 ticket applications were processed in the first hour of sales in October.

Sochi Olympics are to take place from Feb. 7 to Feb. 23, 2014 with 98 medal events featured.
