Ukraine's industrial output slows in 2011

Ukraine's industrial output growth decelerated in 2011 from a year earlier to 7.3 percent year-on-year, the State Statistics Service said Tuesday.

The full-year figure was down 3.9 percentage points from the growth rate of 2010, the statistics committee said in a report.

The mining industry saw year-on-year growth of 8.5 percent in 2011, the electric power, gas and water industry rose 5.4 percent, while machine building increased 16.9 percent and manufacturing 6.1 percent, the report said.

In December, industrial output was down 0.5 percent from a year earlier. On a monthly basis, industrial output rose 0.4 percent in December from that of November, the State Statistics Service said.

In August 2011, year-on-year industrial output growth hit a 12-month high of 9.6 percent as Ukraine's export-oriented sectors flourished.
