Nikkei opens lower on euro's fall

Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower Friday with the key Nikkei index down 0.27 percent after the euro' s fall against U.S. dollar and Japanese yen overnight.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 22.91 points, or 0.27 percent, from Thursday to 8,465.80.

The broader Topix index was down 2.34 points, or 0.32 percent, to 733.94.
